What is Bone Broth? And Why is Everyone Drinking It?

Have you noticed influencers talking about bone broth recently? Or more and more brands and varieties popping up on grocery store shelves? So what’s the deal with bone broth and is it worth the hype?

Bone broth is different than your standard broth or stock. It is made from animal bones and connective tissues - typically from beef, chicken, of fish - but it is slow cooked over a longer period of time to extract the nutrients from the bones. This includes amino acids, minerals and collagen, making it much more nutrient dense and increasing it’s health benefits.

In addition to being nutrient-dense, bone broth can improve digestion, support healthy bones and joints, and improve hair, skin, and nail health.

You can sip bone broth like tea - I like mine with a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of sea salt, or you can use it in soups, stews, or any recipe that calls for stock.

Making your own bone broth is easy and cost-effective! You can make it in a slow cooker like this recipe or in an Instant Pot, like this recipe. You can freeze extras and take them out to thaw as needed.

When I don’t make my own, I only buy Bonafide Provisions. They are my absolute favorite! Why this brand over others? They don’t add any inflammatory oils, preservatives, artificial flavors, or gums. They’re organic. They use BPA-free and EA-free bags
